Introduction to algebra

1Introduction to the course¶

I actually missed the first 20 minutes of the course, so I'm just going to add in general stuff here. If anyone has notes from the beginning of the lecture, please add them here.

The required text is, amazingly enough, available online (for free!). They are actually class notes written by a professor who taught the class 3 years ago. There are some optional textbooks as well; see the course webpage for more information.

The professor has also made a week-by-week summary of the course available here, which is pretty awesome.
